CAREER HISTORY
Industrial Designer | Gtech May 2023 – Present
- Lead industrial design across Gtech’s floor care, hair care and power tool ranges, partnering with engineers and product creators to take products from early ideas and test rigs through to production-ready form.
- Develop concepts through sketching (Photoshop) and rapid CAD, iterating quickly to explore direction before committing to detail.
- Build 3D-printed and foam models to test ergonomics and usability, and produce high-quality visual models to refine colour, material and finish.
- Surface designs to manufacturing-ready quality for injection moulding and produce photorealistic renders in Keyshot.
- Work directly with engineers on internal assembly and with manufacturing partners in China, both independently and through project mangers, to keep design intent intact through production.
Product Design Engineer | Gtech February 2022 – May 2023
- Developed floor care products as part of a small team, owning design work from concept through to manufacture.
- Produced assembly-ready CAD in NX for in-house builds and for external manufacture.
- Built 3D-printed models to support development testing, including airflow and filter recovery performance.
- Presented progress to the CEO and MD, produced prototypes and rigs in the workshop to validate design decisions.
Product Designer / Mechanical Design Engineer & IT Coordinator | Teer Coatings Ltd. March 2014 – February 2022
- Designed within a small team producing high-performance PVD coating systems sold internationally, involved end-to-end on every project.
- Produced CAD parts, assemblies and engineering drawings, and generated BOMs for procurement and build.
- Liaised directly with machinists, laser cutters and sheet metal fabricators on quotations, lead times and design changes.
- Managed multiple large, concurrent projects to deadline, coordinating closely with mechanical and electrical engineers on in-house assembly.
- Additionally supported day-to-day IT troubleshooting and led improvements to company IT infrastructure, coordinating with an external support provider.
